V Asian Beach Games



The Fifth Asian Beach Games held at Danang, Vietnam from 24th September to 3rd October, 2016. It will be the second time for Vietnam to host an Asia level multi-sports event, after Hanoi held Asian Indoor Games (2009) and Southeast Asian Games (2003). However, this is the first time that an event will not be held in Hanoi.

On 24th September, 2016 the opening ceremony of 5th Asian Beach Games took place at the Vietnam's central Da Nang City. The 5th Asian Beach Games kicked off in Vietnam's central Da Nang City on Saturday evening, with the participation of nearly 10,000 people.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc delivered a speech to open the Games. Opening the event was an art performance under the theme “Brighten the ocean- brighten the future” which featured songs and dances embracing with typical characteristics of fisherman in the central Vietnam and aspiration to build an Asian common house of peace and friendship. 

The 5th Asian Beach Games opened in Da Nang on Saturday attracting the participation of 4,600 coaches and athletes from 45 Asian countries to compete in 22 sports and 172 events.
