Syed Riaz Hussain Pirzada in a briefing given by Pakistan Sports Board


Islamabad, 4th July, 2013: “Truth and Transparency*” is our Government’s slogan on which we will have to work. Anybody who does not abide by this, he should go to any other organization. These views were expressed by the Minister, Inter Provincial Coordination, Syed Riaz Hussain Pirzada in a briefing given by Pakistan Sports Board here on Thursday, 4th July, 2013. Our policy is zero tolerance towards corruption and slackness in performing official duties. Present Government does not believe in political revenge and will provide ample opportunities to the employees to prove their ability and exercise their potential, so that Pakistan should regain its lost glory in the field of sports..

Minister directed that Pakistan Sports Complex is the only of its kind of facility in Pakistan having large sports infrastructure therefore, its maintenance and cleanliness must be kept according to the international standards.

Minister advised the officials of PSB not to obey illegal instructions even given by him and they should write descend notes on the file, quoting the legal position. As regards, right sizing of PSB staff, all the legal aspects must be taken into consideration so that we should not face any embarrassment in reverting these orders. Minister emphasized that all the employees of the board must be punctual and concentrate on it.

Taking cognizance of the deteriorating standard of sports in the country, he directed to write letters to all Provincial Governments and all DCOs to provide sports grounds at District level, educational institutes and in housing societies. In this context, Secretary Ministry of IPC, Mr. Faridullah Khan proposed to table a bill in the Parliament that any housing society having more than 500 houses must make provisions for sports ground.

The Federal Minister further directed to write letters to all DCOs to probe about the genuine and fake sports clubs in their Districts. Emphasis should be given on popular sports of the country and to the encouragement of players/coaches.

Pakistan Sports Board should chalk out an action plan for training of coaches and technical officials for providing their services to the schools, colleges, universities and clubs. Inter Schools, Inter Colleges and Inter Universities competitions should be organized to tap the young talent.

Prior to this, the Joint Secretary (Sports) Syed Javed Hassan briefed the Minister about the affairs of Pakistan Sports Board. Additional Secretary Furqan Bahadur Khan, Director General Pakistan Sports Board Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, Director General (Technical) Dr. M. Akhter Nawaz Ganjera and other senior officers were present at the occasion.
