Quaid-i-Azam Inter Provincial Games - 2017
Islamabad: November 29, 2017, Dr. M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board met with Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Secretary, Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform in connection with the holding of Quaid-e-Azam Inter Provincial Games 2017. Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui assured full support for provision of funds for organizing the games in a befitting manner. Ministry of Planning & Development released Rs.50.000 million for the games.
Pakistan Sports Board has convened a meeting of all the Provincial Sports Boards, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK and Islamabad Sports Boards on 5th December, 2017 at 1100 hours in the Committee Room of Pakistan Sports Board, Islamabad to finalize the various arrangements for the Games to be held during the 4th week of December, 2017.
Basic objective of the project is to create environment conducive for promoting national harmony by engaging the youth in healthier activities. This will foster positive thinking, peace, nation building and festivity. Other objectives of the project are to explore new talent in sports for grooming for national teams. DG, PSB explained that we are required to revive interest in sports among the general public and create sports culture in the country and to promote national health and raise national fitness level.
Dr. M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board while talking to media, stated that President of Pakistan will inaugurate the games whereas Prime Minister will be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. A meeting of the Steering Committee under the chairmanship of Mian Riaz Husain Pirzada, Federal Minister for IPC will be convened shortly.
All the participating Boards have been requested to organize the training camps for effective preparation and participation in the Games. They are advised to finalize requirement of their Contingent and the same must be submitted to Pakistan Sports Board during the meeting being held on 5th December, 2017. The winners will be awarded cash prizes.
The age limit of the participating players will be under-25 year upto 31st December, 2017. No departmental players shall be eligible to participate in this event. These Games will be organized under the aegis of the concerned National Sports Federations. The Federations will be responsible for the technical conduct of the Games.
Mr. Muhammad Azam Dar, Director (Media), PSB told the media that more than 3700 players, team officials and technical officials will take part in this mega event. During organization of these games services of volunteers will also be engaged.
