Islamabad 26th October, 2009: The National Training Camps will commence from November 1, 2009 in the backdrop of 11th South Asian Games (SAG). The Final phase of the training camps will be held to prepare national sports teams for effective participation in forthcoming SAG.
The Spokesperson of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) said in a press release that the Director General PSB, Ameer Hamza Gillani, had given final approval to the camps schedule after consulting with Pir Aftab Shah Jilani, Federal Minister for Sports.
The spokesperson said the DG PSB had briefed the Minister regarding the logistic, boarding and sports facilities being provided to the players at the different venues from Nov 16. The Federal Minister for Sports, Pir Aftab Shah Jilani has directed DG PSB to ensure full-proof security arrangements at the centres and leave no stone unturned in provision of the best possible facilities to the players.
The Spokesman said "The National Training Camps are being held at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and POF Wah Cantt centres simultaneously with effect from 1st November 2009.
He said "The camps of Athletics (men & Women), Swimming (M&W), Badminton (M&W), Basketball (M), Cycling (W), Handball (M), Karate (W), Squash (M), Taekwondo (M&W), Weightlifting (M), Wrestling (M), Wushu (M&W), Judo (M) will be established at Islamabad centre. Like wise at Karachi centre camps of Boxing (M), Table Tennis (M&W); at Lahore the camps of Cycling (M), Kabaddi (M), Karate (M); and at POF Wah Cantt the camp of Volleyball (M) will be conducted".
