Pakistan Inter Board Sports 2014


Islamabad: February 25, 2014, Pakistan Inter-Board Female Games after successful holding of the Men Games got under way amidst colourful opening ceremony in which female players from 19 boards will vie for the top honor.

Addition Secretary Sports Amir Tariq Zaman was the chief guest on this occasion who formally announced commencements of the Games including events of athletics, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and hockey.

Chairman Abbottabad Board, who is also the host, Iftiklhar Ul Muluk, Organizing Secretary Muhammad Shakeel, Director General Pakistan Sports Board Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, DDGs Ch. Salamat, Muhammad Shahid Islam, Dr. Waqar, International Technical Official and former gold medalist athlete Habib Shah, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present on the occasion.

The ceremony started with recitation of Holy Quran by Sadia, followed a joint Dua for the deceased Director General Amir Hamza Gillani, who died due to illness on February 12, last.

The athletes from Karachi Board presented a National Song, followed by another national song presented by Uzma “Jeway Pakistan”. The teams presented a well smart March Past and the chief guest Addition Secretary Sports Amir Tariq Zaman along with DG Pakistan Sports Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera took the salami.

The volleyball event will be played at Liaqat Gymnasium, Table Tennis at Hamidi Hall, Athletic at Jinnah Sports Complex, Hockey at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, while Badminton will be organized at Rodham Hall.

Speaking on this occasion Director General Pakistan Sports Board Dr. M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, welcome all the participants, on behalf of Pakistan Sports Board, Ministry of IPC and the Abbottabad Board. He lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for holding such a stunning opening ceremony. He said the education boards are playing very vital role for the promotion of sports activities across all over the country.

Earlier, Board of Intermediate Secondary Education Lahore clinched the Pakistan Inter-Board Sports 2014 Men’s event by getting 06 Gold, 04 Silver, 02 Bronze secured 196 points followed by BISE Abbottabad at second position with 04 Gold, 03 Silver and 06 Bronze secured 153 points while BISE Peshawar got third position with 04 Gold, 02 Silver and 03 Bronze secured 139 points.

Sami Ullah of Peshawar was declared best athlete who grabbed five golds and was awarded Rs.90,000 cash prize as well. In the final of men’s Badminton event played in Rodham Hall PSC, BISE Lahore won the final match by beating FBISE Islamabad while BISE Sahiwal won the third position’s match against BISE Peshawar.

BISE Faisalabad lifted the trophy of Volleyball event played at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad by beating PBTE Lahore with a margin of 3-1 Set. While BISE Mardan won the third position match against BISE Peshawar with a margin of 3-1 Set.
