Islamabad: June 22, 2015: A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Arfanullah Khan, Advocate High Court/Election Commissioner for elections of Chess Federation of Pakistan to discuss the mechanism and methodology of elections on 22nd June, 2015 at 1500 hours at the Committee Room, Liaqat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. Syed Habib Shah, Deputy Director General (Technical) and Mr. Muhammad Azam Dar, Director, National Federations attended as Members of the Committee constituted for the purpose of elections.

The Chairman welcomed the participants and apprised them that the elections would be held in a fair and transparent manner and every effort will be made in this regard. The factual position is that the Chess Federation of Pakistan is being run under a non democratic body having no legitimacy. The game of Chess has suffered irreparable loss during this period and litigation has been conducted by those who have vested interest. The Chairman further informed that the Secretary, Ministry of IPC has always encouraged & supported democratic process, transparency and good governance in National Sports for the promotion of sports in the country. After thorough deliberations, the Committee approved the elections schedule for holding the elections of Chess Federation of Pakistan for a term of four year.

Election Schedule of Chess Federation of Pakistan

Consequent upon the disposal of the writ petition No.1591/2015 titled as Chess Federation of Pakistan Vs. Pakistan Sports Board by the Honorable Islamabad High Court Islamabad, Pakistan Sports Board is holding the election of the office bearers of Chess Federation of Pakistan. The election is to be conducted under the provisions of the Constitution of Chess Federation of Pakistan and the parameters of National Sports Policy 2005 upheld by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Program of the Elections:

Candidates wishing to contest shall personally, or through a proxy letter, submit their nominations to this office not later than Monday, 29th June 2015 until 3 P.M for the following positions:-

President (1)
Senior Vice President (1)
Vice Presidents (3)
General Secretary (1)
Joint Secretary (1)
Finance Secretary (1)
Information Secretary (1)

Nominations shall be submitted with the signature of the General Secretary of the respective Provincial Chess Associations. The Officer In-charge dealing with the subject of Sports of affiliated departments of Chess Federation of Pakistan i.e. Pakistan WAPDA, Railways, PIA and HEC shall sign the nomination form of their candidates.

Following information is required for the nominations:

Name and Father’s Name of the candidate, CNIC Number, Postal Address, Position for which the Nominations is submitted and the panel which they are representing. The nominations received after the above-mentioned deadline shall not be entertained.

Election will be held on Tuesday, 30th June, 2015 at 1500 hours at the Committee Room of Pakistan Sports Board, Kashmir Highway, Near Aabpara, Islamabad.
