Islamabad: 13 September, 2017: A ceremony was organized at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad to send off Pakistan contingent participating in the 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games scheduled to be held from 17-27 September, 2017 at Ashgabat (Turkmenistan). Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination/President, PSB was the Chief Guest at the ceremony. All the members of the contingent comprising 116 players and officials attended the ceremony besides the staff of the Pakistan Sports Board and the office-bearers of the concerned National Sports Federations. The Chief Guest in his address emphasized upon the members of the contingent that they were going abroad as ambassadors of the country. They were required to project a soft image of the country through their conduct and behavior on and off the field. He advised them not to involve themselves in any activity which was likely any blame on the country. He expected that by virtue of the efforts made by the Government/PSB for their extensive training, they would come back with outstanding achievements. He prayed to Almighty Allah for bestowing upon them success in all their endeavors.
Pakistan contingent will depart in four groups in different dates. First group comprising 80 members will depart on 14th September, 2017 at 0300 hours via Dubai on Qatar Airways from Islamabad.
Taking advantage of this auspicious ceremony, the Federal Minister awarded cash prizes of Rs.500,000/- each to Mr. Talha Talib and Muhammad Nooh Dastagir Butt for winning Gold and Silver Medalist of Commonwealth Youth, Junior & Senior Weightlifting Championships held from 3-10 September, 2017 at Gold Coast City, Australia. He highly appreciated their achievements in the young name bringing laurels to the country.
The Federal Minister also inaugurated the 03 day refresher course of the Director PhysicalEducations (DPE’s) of the Board’s of Intermediate and Secondary Education. Speaking on the occasion he said that the main objective of organizing this course was to equip the participants with the rules, regulations, techniques and latest developments in the field of sports and physical education.
