Football and Volleyball U-21 Boys Training Camp for the youth of FATA at PSC, Islamabad
Islamabad 13th April, 2011: On the directives of the Federal Minister for Sports Engr. Shaukat Ullah, Pakistan Sports Board has arranged a three week football and volleyball Under-21 boys training camp for the youth of FATA at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. 36 players and 2 officials have arrived at the Complex who will be trained by senior coaches of Pakistan Sports Board.
Mr. Shaukat Ullah met the participants of the training camp and distributed track suits among them. At the occasion, the minister said that there is an immense potential of sports in the tribal areas of the country but unfortunately due to the lack of sports infrastructure in FATA, that talent could not be tapped properly. He said that he visited Bajaur Sports Complex (BSC) recently and directed the authorities of Pakistan Sports Board to renovate modernize and expand the facilities at the BSC.
The minister was of the view that with enhanced and improved sports network in FATA, coupled with frequent training camps, it would much easier to polish the raw sports talent available in FATA. He said that engaging the youth of tribal areas in healthy sports activities is a purposeful effort to redirect the energies of the youth towards constructive activities and save them from falling into the hands of anti-state elements.
