Participation in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) scheduled to be held at Kathmandu, Nepal
from 9-18 March, 2019.
Islamabad: 9th November, 2018: A meeting of the National Sports Federations concerned and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Khaqan Babar, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board on 8th November, 2018 at 1100 hours in the Committee Room of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Islamabad regarding preparation and participation in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG), Kathmandu, Nepal from 9-18 March, 2019. The games are scheduled to be held in March, 2019.
The Director General, PSB welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of this meeting. The rep of federations explained their road maps and budget requirements. He advised them to submit their training plan to assess financial analysis of each road map in writing so that Working Group can evaluate and submit their recommendations to PSB.
A working group comprising Mr. Mansoor Ahmed Khan, DDG (Admn), PSB/Convener, Mr. Muhammad Khalid Mehmood, Secretary General, POA, Mr. Muhammad Shafiq, President, Pakistan Handball Federation and Mr. Muhammad Azam Dar, DDG (Tech), PSB/Members. The TORs of the Working Group viz. Strength and duration of training camps as preparation plan for South Asian Games, final strength of athletes and officials for the Games, provision of equipment and sports gear during training camps, provision of uniform and sports gears, pocket allowance for Pakistan contingent participating to the South Asian Games, financial analysis of each road map and recommendations to provide funds with success ratio/medal hopes, recommendation for induction of foreign coaches as well as training abroad programmes, dispute resolution mechanism for sports included in the South Asian Games, any other suitable analysis and recommendation in the interest of Pakistan contingent for the Games.
The Working Group will prepare recommendations and submit to DG, PSB by 20thNovember, 2018 for submitting to the Secretary, Ministry of IPC alongwith budget requirements.
The House was also apprised that annual grant will be released to the National Sports Federations on receipt of 2nd quarter grant from the Government. The grants will only be released to those Federations who have submitted their last year’s audited statements of accounts. The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General, POA, Mr. Muhammad Zafar, Secretary General, Athletics Federation of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Arshad Sattar, Secretary General, Pakistan Wrestling Federation, Engr. Shah Naeem Zafar, Honorary Secretary, Pakistan Volleyball Federation and other rep of the concerned national sports federations.
