Engr Shaukat Ullah assumes charge of Minister for Sports
Islamabad 7th March, 2011: Engr Shaukat Ullah, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, has assumed the additional charge of Minister for Sports. Secretary Sports and Director General PSB received him. The senior officers of Ministry of sports and Pakistan Sports Board were also present on the occasion.
Mr. Shaukat Ullah expressed his pleasure that the PM has shown confidence in him by giving additional responsibilities of sports ministry. He resolved to come up to expectation of the prime minister and serve the people of Pakistan in the field of Sports to the best of his experience and knowledge.
Mr. Shaukat Ullah felicitated Pakistani Tennis team which won the important tie matches against Hong-Kong in Oceana Group-II. He said the tennis stars deserve high accolades over their remarkable performance in international circuit. The Government of Pakistan is committed to promoting sports activities in schools and colleges across the country and engaging the vulnerable youth in healthy and constructive sports activities which can lead to the permanent eradication of extremism. The talent hunt programme needs to be introduced in the terror affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.
Mr. Shaukat Ullah said Pakistan Cricket team has performed well so for in the World Cup ties. The performance seems to be a great combination of batting and bowling, he added, that can defeat any team of the world. He urged on cricket team to keep up the high spirits and million dreams of nation rest on them and the entire nation’s prayers are with them to the world cup title. He wished best of luck to the national cricket team in World Cup tournament.
