Islamabad: August 04, 2014, The XX Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow (Scotland) from 24th July to 3rd August, 2014.  A 63-member of Pakistan Sports Contingent participated in these Games in the disciplines of Badminton, Boxing, Gymnastics, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling. Pakistan won three silver medals in Boxing, Judo & Wrestling and one bronze medal in Wrestling.  Pakistan secured the 23rd position among the Commonwealth countries.

Federal Minister for IPC, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada stated that our sports were stand still during the last two years owing to the Pakistan Olympic Association’s conflict and so effective training could not be organized.  Despite of these problems of training, the participants did their best.  The Federal Minister for IPC, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and the Secretary IPC, Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry appreciated the performance of medal winners and the other players of the Contingent for their appreciable performance in given circumstances.

After participation in the XX Commonwealth Games, Pakistan Contingent will reach at Islamabad Airport by EK-612 on 5th August, 2014 at 0730 hours. The Director General and Officers of Pakistan Sports Board will receive the Pakistan Contingent at Islamabad Airport.

Federal Minister for IPC/President PSB, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and the Secretary IPC, Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry will host Reception in honour of the Pakistan Contingent on Friday, 8th August, 2014 at 1600 hours at Allama Iqbal Hostel, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.
