Islamabad, Federations must make their house in order to two-months time and implement SC verdict in true letter and spirit within time frame and the federation which failed to comply would have to face the music, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board Syed Amir Hamza Gilani said this in an exclusive interview with The Nation on Monday.

“It is the duty of federations to find and groom grassroots level talent we will help them in best possible way, we would provide them all the facilities, grants, coaches, accommodation and traveling, federations must have to perform their moral and national duties,” he said.

“We have already constituted a committee which will monitor all the federations and on their recommendations we would decide about the fate of federations which are not working actively and they just exists in one room."

When this correspondent ask about the fate of parallel bodies with in the federations, Hamza said: “The issue had been resolved as Badminton Federation run by Nazar Gondal is recognized by the PSB after the honourable court rule in their favour and I want to give clear warning to all the federations to work honestly in the best interest of the country.”

To a query regarding the doubts about Pakistan’s participation in the coming London Olympics as IOC had warned government not to interfere in POA affairs and let them work freely, Hamza replied: “We are fully abiding by the IOC rules and we have assured them their will be no interference what so ever in any federation or POA affairs and I want to take this opportunity to clear one thing that we would not take any step that hurt our national dignity or against national cause.”

When this scribe draw his attention towards the depleted condition of outer swimming pool, Hamza said:’ We had already sanction a hefty amount of Rs.50 million for the repair of swimming pool, squash courts and laying down of international standard synthetic turf on tennis courts, the work would start soon on these mega projects.”

Commenting about the two DGs in PSB and does that hinders in smooth functioning and the appointment is sheer violation of rules and regulations, Hamza said: “I had no problem in working with other DG and as far as rules are concerned the amendment would be made in this regard.”

"We are holding national junior U-16 girls and U-14 boys events in different categories for the last five years with the active help of provinces and we will love to organize these events on lager and senior levels, but we need active support of federations in this regard sincere efforts could take Pakistan to old glory days when we were ruling the sporting world with only keeping one thing in mind honestly,”  he concluded.
