Prime Minster Sports Festival 2012 was organized by Pakistan Sports Board in collaboration with Higher Education Commission at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad from 24th to 27th June, 2012.
Sportspersons from more than 28 universities of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan and AJK participated in this mega sports event.
Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination/ President, Pakistan Sports Board who was the chief guest at the opening ceremony on 24th June, 2012.
In his address on the occasion, the Federal Minster for Inter-Provincial Coordination appreciated Pakistan Sports Board and Higher Education Commission for their successful efforts. He said, “Present Government is taking concrete steps to improve the fading standard of sports in the country and the primary objective to organize “Prime Minister Sports Festival 2012” is to identify sports talent from our youth which by systematic grooming will develop into the players who are going to replace our stalwarts.” He further said that sportspersons will be facilitated at every level for the uplift of sports in the country.
Mr. Anisul Hassnain Musavi, Secretary, IPC, Dr. Akthar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General Pakistan Sports Board, Joint Secretary (Sports), IPC and Mr. Yahya, Director General (Sports), HEC were also present on the occasion.
