Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) organized the National Anti-Doping Seminar which was held at Islamabad Hotel, Islamabad on 6th March,2014 from 0900 hrs to1600 hrs to spread awareness amongst the National Athletes, sports departments, athletes, coaches, sports educationist and officials regarding harmful effect of doping in sports. The Federal Secretary, Ministry of IPC Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry was the Chief Guest at the opening session.
Director General Pakistan Sports Board Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera welcome the participants and in his welcome addressed thanks to Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhary, Federal Secretary to grace the occasion out of his busy schedule. He also added that prohibited substance user when caught in doping gave embracement to the athlete and as well as country. He strongly supported that continuity in doping seminar will help in awareness and controlling doping in sports and DG, PSB he will provide all kind of support for the clean and fairness sports in Pakistan.
Dr. Waqar Ahmed, Chairman Anti Doping Organization of Pakistan gave a brief introductory Speech regarding the ADOP Primary focus and importance of free and fair sports in the country. He added that anti doping organization of Pakistan is determining to foster a dope free culture in Pakistan to make sure everyone plays by same rule and to sanction those who cheat themselves and sports and to level the playing field for all. He continues that any negligence in the awareness will cause a dangerous outbreak of doping violation therefore consistency in awareness program regarding anti doping is need of time.
Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry, Federal Secretary for IPC on his concluding speech strongly supported the cause of Anti Doping Seminar and functioning of Anti Doping Organization of Pakistan and was strongly on brief that anti doping is wide accepted law and there is no way we can avoid this. He also encourages the efforts of anti- doping organization of Pakistan and proposed to spread its awareness seminar to the other cities and at grass root level where athletes can be benefited with the education provided through these kinds of seminars.
He also proposed that awareness campaigns should reach to young athletes at schools and colleges level alongside with the national and international athletes, coaches, managers and other supporting staff of different sports organizations of Pakistan.
He ended with thanks and compliments for ADOP team for organizing this seminar and also the media coverage team so that this kind of education reach to maximum people around the globe.
In the 2nd session, Dr. Waqar Ahmad, Chairman Anti Doping Organization of Pakistan, Syed Habib Shah, Senior Instructor and former National Athlete and Malik Khalid Mahmood, Doping Control Officer delivered fruitful lectures.
Ch. Salamat Ali, Deputy Director General (Admn), PSB distributed certificates among the speakers and participants at the ending session.
