II Asian Games



The Capital of Philippines, Manila hosted II Asian Games. The ideals of the Olympic Movement through the Asian Games were firmly bolstered at this Games with considerable increase in numbers of participating countries/NOCs and participants. Although cycling was excluded, wrestling, boxing, and rifle shooting were added to bring the total number of sports to 8. As for the gold medal tally, Japan lead the record with 37, Philippines as the host country was 2nd with 10, and Korea doing well as a new comer was 3rd with 8.
