Mr. Hazara, who tested positive for Covid-19, is admitted and getting treatment in local hospital at Karachi. The coronavirus is affecting all over the world including Pakistan. The people in almost all the countries are exposed to serious health and economic challenges in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. In this scenario, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Federal Minister for IPC and President, Pakistan Sports Board took the initiative to provide grants-in-aid to the affiliated National Sports Federations (NSFs) to mitigate the sufferings of the sportspersons.

22nd meeting of the Board of Pakistan Sports Board was held on Thursday, 17th September, 2020 at 1200 hours in the Committee Room of Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination, Kohsar Block, Islamabad. “Upgradation of sports venues and development of new sports infrastructure is our priority”, this was stated by the Federal Minister IPC Dr. Fehmida Mirza while addressing the inaugural ceremony of synthetic hockey turf laid at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. She stressed upon the Provincial Governments to undertake such projects for the promotion and development of sports at grass root level. She added that provinces should start talent hunt schemes to attract  young sports talent that will be further groomed by the National Sports Federations. This will enable us to regain the laurels for our beloved country.

Pakistan Sports Board Doors Opened Sports System will be depoliticized Doping Free Sports is our priority, Representatives of thirteen National Sports Federation including Hockey, Kabaddi, Tennis, Squash, Karate, Alpine, Judo, Weightlifting, Tenpin Bowling, Wushu, Bodybuilding, Table Tennis and Rifle Shooting called on the Director General, Pakistan Sports Board Col Muhammad Asif Zaman (Retd) in his office here at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad on Thursday. While sharing the different points of under process National Sports Policy, The Director General apprised the representatives of above national sports federations that the government intends to constitute an independent Election Commission in consultation with the stakeholders.

Pakistan Sports Board roundly denies the news items published in print media that Pakistan Sports Board has refused to pay the expenditure to be incurred on doping test of the athletes participating in the forthcoming Summer Olympic Games. This clarification was made by PSB Media Department in a press release.

Brig. Zaheer Ahmed Khan, The Director General of Army Sports Directorate visited the Pakistan Sports Board and had a wide - ranging discussion with Col. (Retd) Muhammad Asif Zaman, the Director General Pakistan Sports Board on different matters relating to development and promotion of sports, up-coming Tokyo Olympic, preparation of the forthcoming SAF Games and training model of the sports persons. The two officers also discussed the post Covid training and facilities provided to the athletes. Matters about sports coaching besides other technical officials also came up for discussion.

“Snooker is quite a popular game not only in Pakistan but around the globe and PSB will upgrade snooker facilities at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad to provide best sports infrastructure for the upcoming cueists” this was stated by the Director General Pakistan Sports Board, Col (R) Muhammad Asif Zaman during a meeting with the Chairman, Pakistan Billiard & Snooker Association (PBSA) Alamgir A. Sheikh and President PBSA, Javed H. Karim in his office here at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. The PBSA office bearers highlighted their 10 years performance and preparation for the future. The Federation also assured full cooperation to the Govt/ PSB for the promotion of sports in the country. The DG, PSB acknowledged the performance of PBSA and said that snooker is no doubt not an Olympic game but is popular in every nook and corner of our country and can be helpful to create sports culture in the society.

Rashid A. Malik, re-known Tennis Player and Coach called on Director General Pakistan Sports Board, Col Muhammad Asif Zaman (Retd) yesterday in his office at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Mr. Malik appreciated the prompt actions of the Govt. for uplifting sports in the country. He expressed the hope that the govt. post corona initiative would provide a new impetus to the gaming culture in our society. He also emphasized the need for the residential academies to groom natural talent and potential of the players.

18. Mr. Muhammad Tariq was a great Boxer and his death is not only an irreparable loss for his family but also that of the country”. This was stated by the Federal Minister IPC/President, PSB Dr. Fahmida Mirza in her condolence message issued by the PSB Media Department. While highlighting the meritorious services of the legendary boxer, especially during 1970s, when Mr. Muhammad Tariq represented Pakistan and won a number of medals for the nation, the Minister prayed for the departed soul and condoled the deceased family as “The little words of mine just can assuage the deep grief of the deceased family and his loved ones”. 22nd June, 2021

His Excellency, Mr. Nong Rong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan has said that China would extend every possible cooperation to Pakistan for the up-gradation of sports facilities at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad besides cooperation with Pakistan in training of the sports coaches and athletes. To comply with the instructions of the International Olympics Committee for participation in the forthcoming Tokyo Summer Olympics, 2020, Pakistan Sports Board has initiated the necessary arrangements with the relevant protocols & necessities. For this purpose, specific areas of Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad have been notified as Bio-secure Bubble (BsB) for the Pakistan Contingent with effect from 1st July, 2021. The onward movement of participants and staff deputed in BsB will be restricted to these areas. Any outsiders / Board employees will not be allowed to enter into these areas.

The first Pakistani Sports squad including a badminton player, three shooters and two swimmers along with officials left last night for Japan from Islamabad to Tokyo for participation in the ongoing Summer Olympic Games. Pakistan Sports Board kept the players & officials in the Bio-secure Bubble (BsB) established at Sports Complex, Islamabad. The PCR Tests of the contingent members were also conducted before their departure as per international protocols & requirements. This has been stated in a press note issued by the PSB, Media Department in Islamabad.
